How to Find AR Zone Features on Your Samsung Galaxy Phone

The steps for opening AR Zone features depend on the One UI version installed on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

On One UI 6 and earlier

1. Open the Camera app.

2. Tap More.

3. Look for AR Zone among the available camera modes.

4. Open AR Zone and select a supported feature, such as AR Emoji or AR Doodle.

On One UI 7 and later

1. Open Settings.

2. Select Advanced features.

3. Tap Galaxy Avatar to access the replacement for AR Emoji.

4. For AR Doodle, Quick Measure, or Deco Pic, open the Galaxy Store and search for the individual app.

5. Check whether the app is available for your phone before installing it.

These menus may vary by device model, region, and software version. If you cannot find a feature, check Samsung’s support documentation for your specific Galaxy phone.

Can You Download the AR Zone App Again?

On many newer Galaxy phones, AR Zone is no longer available as a single downloadable app. Instead, Samsung provides its supported augmented reality features separately.

If you want to create an avatar, open Settings > Advanced features > Galaxy Avatar on a compatible phone. For AR Doodle, Quick Measure, or Deco Pic, search for the individual feature in the Galaxy Store.

Keep in mind that not every app is available on every Galaxy device. Samsung has also begun withdrawing some older AR apps from supported downloads ahead of their scheduled discontinuation. If an app does not appear in the Galaxy Store, it may no longer be available for your device or software version.

Avoid downloading unofficial AR Zone APK files to replace missing Samsung apps.

What Happens to AR Doodle and Quick Measure After December 31, 2026?

Samsung plans to end service for Quick Measure and AR Doodle on December 31, 2026. Its Galaxy Store notices, as reported by 9to5Google, say new downloads and updates stop after that date, and future operating system updates won’t include compatibility support for the apps. Installed copies can keep running for now, though some features may stop working over time.

Samsung says both tools will return with improved services in the future. It hasn’t said when, what they’ll look like, or whether they’ll keep the same names. It also hasn’t named a replacement.

If you rely on either app, act before the cutoff:

1. Sign in to a Samsung account. Samsung’s support page says a Samsung account is required to download apps from the Galaxy Store. SamMobile reports that the store began requiring sign-in on April 30, 2026.

2. Open the Galaxy Store, search for the app, and install it.

3. Keep your phone updated, but expect the app to stop working eventually.

Can you remove AR Zone?

Samsung treats preinstalled apps differently from apps you download. Its guidance says you can’t uninstall some system apps, but you can hide them or force stop them. Two options matter here:

• Hiding works for all preinstalled apps. It removes the app from the Home and Apps screens.

• Disabling works only for some apps. A disabled app stops running and stops receiving updates.

To try it, press and hold the app on the Apps screen and tap Uninstall if it appears. If it doesn’t, open Settings > Apps, choose the app, and look for Disable. Menu names vary by model, so check what your phone shows.

To undo a disable, go to Settings > Apps, filter for disabled apps, and tap Enable.

Community posts disagree about whether the preinstalled AR Zone app can be fully uninstalled. Some users say the option never appears, and others say it does on some phones. Samsung’s uninstall guides don’t mention AR Zone by name, so check your own phone before you rely on either result.

Is AR Zone safe?

AR Zone comes from Samsung Electronics, and Samsung distributes the separate tools through the Galaxy Store. The main risk is downloading an “AR Zone APK” from a website, because you can’t check what that file contains. Use the official store.

Samsung has also had to fix security problems in this area. CVE-2023-42569 describes a flaw in AR Emoji that could let attackers read its sandbox data. Samsung fixed it in its December 2023 security update. The lesson is to keep your phone’s security updates current.

You can also review what the app can access. Go to Settings > Apps, choose the app, and check its permissions. The AR Zone release notes list camera access as the required permission, so turning camera access off stops the AR features from working.

Do you need it?

• To make avatars and stickers: Use Galaxy Avatar in Settings. Samsung says some avatar items may cost money, and stickers can be shared through the Samsung keyboard.

• To measure objects: Quick Measure is available until December 31, 2026, on phones with a DepthVision camera. It works best in well-lit areas without much clutter.

• To draw in the camera view: AR Doodle has the same end date. Download it before then if you use it.

• If you don’t use AR features: Hide or disable the apps you don’t want. They’ll stop appearing on your app screens.

Which Samsung Phones Support AR Zone Features?

Four things decide what you’ll see:

1. Software version. The rename and the standalone apps came with One UI 7 and Android 15.

2. Phone model. Quick Measure works on phones with a DepthVision camera, and not every Galaxy phone has one. Samsung’s Australian guide describes the requirement. Check your model’s specifications before downloading.

3. Region. Samsung’s notices say changes vary by region, and features can differ between countries.

4. Samsung account. Galaxy Store downloads require one.

Samsung’s instructions for these features have also changed. A 2025 guide from Samsung Australia told users to download Quick Measure from the AR Zone menu. A December 2025 version sends users to the Galaxy Store instead. Follow the steps your phone shows.
