Look Twice 360° Motorcycle Safety VR Experience

The Texas Department of Transportation partnered with Euphoria XR to create an interactive 360-degree VR experience focused on motorcycle safety. The project simulated three typical scenarios that cause motorcyclists to be injured on roadways and allowed the participants to interact with the experience from the driver’s point of view. As part of an overall public awareness campaign, Euphoria XR created a two-part experience, combining immersive video and virtual reality. The objective was to make motorcycle safety education more interesting to various age groups and show more care and attention to the roadways of Texas. Overall, the final activation proved a great success for TXDOT and showed how an immersive approach can be used to convey serious public safety messages in ways that will stick with people.

Street Smart 360° Road Safety VR Simulation

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments teamed up with Euphoria XR to create a VR road safety experience to promote pedestrian and cyclist awareness throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region. Inspired by the Texas project, the team developed an interactive 360 Video experience consisting of multiple parts, with interactive components (360 video, live action, computer-generated environment, gaze-based interaction, gamification). Participants were given the chance to play in the driver’s seat and practice their pedestrian/cyclist recognition in various roadway scenarios. The activation reached 10,000 people, resulting in hundreds of news stories, and MWCOG decided to continue the project for the upcoming year. The project demonstrates the possibility of an immersive approach to small-scale government solutions based on experiential inclusion in the educational campaigns of the public.
